Parkinson’s Disease is a progress disease that impairs coordinated movement. Symptoms may include weakness on one side, resting tremors of a limb, slowness, rigidity of limbs or trunk, shuffling walk, and poor balance. Everyday functional activity is affected. Medication that can lessen the symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease can also cause limiting side effects.
The goals of a Pilates for Parkinson’s Disease private session are to maintain, as much as possible, joint and spine range of motion, flexibility in the muscles especially in the arms and legs, balance, self-confidence, a sense of well-being, and a positive attitude.
